Short selling from April 21: Sebi

Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) today said short selling and securities lending & borrowing will be operationalised from April 21.

The market regulator has also decided to extend the margining requirements prevalent for the retail segment in cash market to institutions. Institutional investors only pay it for F&O trading.

Margin requirements for the institutions will come into effect from Aril 21, 2008.
